maldives guide

The capital of the Maldives is Male’, being the centre of attention it has a reputation to maintain. The first impression when you arrive in Male’ is the fact that it is spotless – they still stick to the tradition of sweeping the roads every morning to keep the streets nice and clean.

Male’ is home to around 75,000 Maldivians so as you can see it’s not the biggest capital city in the world, its area is a little over 1.77 square kilometres. You can choose to explore the city by bus, taxi or even by foot, the typical taxi fare to travel around Male’ would not be a great deal if you decided you don’t want to walk.

One of the major tourist attractions of coming to Male’ is the shopping, with a wide variety of markets you will be able to find many antiques, souvenirs and gifts for family and friends. With the prices being very competitive you can often find great bargains if you are prepared to shop around.

You can guarantee you will have a number of activities to take part in while visiting Male’ whether you are into taking in the sights or relaxing in the weather by the pool. You will be able to find something to do that even the whole family will enjoy – bringing you all closer than ever.

Be sure to see the legendry fruit and vegetable stands, here you will see people from all over the Indian Ocean come to buy and trader their stocks.
